This past weekend I received an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Entrepreneurship and Business Administration from the T.I.U.A. School of Business.
What an honor and privilege to be included in this class of incredible people.
For those that know me well, I’ve never chosen the traditional education path and it seems like this is no different.
And let’s face it, entrepreneurs are different that way.
Did I ever think something like this would happen? Nope. But I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be recognized for my work.
Since announcing it on various social media platforms I’ve gotten a lot of “Congratulations” comments and a few “Wow that’s awesome, how does one go about getting something like this?”
I won’t get into the finer details of the arduous process that I went through, but I did want to take a moment to talk about the Attitude of Opportunity – one of the Attitudes of Money that can help you heal your money trauma and fix your attitude and mindset around generational wealth.
Opportunity is all around us. When we think of money and opportunity it’s about connecting with the people that can help move our businesses and dreams ahead. Sometimes that will be paying clients but those aren’t the only people who can help us. We have to pay attention to our mentors, coaches, and peers as well. Everyone in our network can provide opportunities for us to grow. It’s about relationships, and our relationship with money is only one part of the picture.
Opportunity is most readily available when we are giving AND receiving. It can’t be all one or the other, you have to find the balance. And you have to be ready for when it shows up so you can say yes.
I’m incredibly grateful for Dr. Tujuana Ross for not only being an incredible coach but for also nominating me for this honor. And I want to celebrate myself for saying yes and leaning into being honored for my work.
Here’s to new friends, colleagues, “family” and opportunities.
